Change of any sort is never easy. Nothing in our project says that, but it does require more than just talk. You're right. It requires informed action, unity, and for success (again, who knows when? but we do know from history that change happens, positive but imperfect change, IS POSSIBLE and change- not tweaks & reforms to a broken system- has an historic record). In a democracy- even the bit we have left- and for a peaceful change, we need a strong 'voice' from enough people to bring 'change-s' about. That has historically come FROM PEOPLE GETTING TOGETHER, TALKING, CLAMORING FOR CHANGE.
Other than to stop talking, I don't yet see what you propose. If 'integration with our own government' is yours, please elaborate. And not clear as to what you
mean by 'arguing about policy' means...this too, please explain. By 'Policy' do you mean 'platform & goals'? Because our proposed fundamental Economic & Civic changes- our platform & goals - are so much deeper than 'policy' as it is typically understood.
However we proceed as a people, it will be a deep and real change, not a 'policy change'. And therefore, obviously, not quick, not easy, not even predictable. But awareness of problems & how we can solve them can help stave off fascism or global disasters that Capitalism...never mind the terms we use to replace it or the criticisms we may have with each others'
'imperfect strategies'....is clearly leading us. So, please explain how you propose we can go in a new cooperative, profit-less,social-ownership,grass-roots, democratic direction?
EVERY human endeavor to change & improve our human lives takes MANY forces...awareness of the problems, understanding of the main cause,yes-even talk!, and some unified goal around which the majority (or large enough minority willing to act in peaceful ways to convince more people) can come together- in our country USUALLY THRU THE POLITICAL PROCESS. But we all play a roll. Unless we bicker about whose got the 'answer' to build the movement and meanwhile
we let opportunities slip away.
Do you agree with those basic premises? Basically, with the need for REAL Democracy? And replacing Capitalism with social ownership of society?
There is no guarantee that we will 'make the right choices' and not end up with Fascism...or cataclysmic
disasters. One option tho is to BEGIN to offer solutions...facile as they may seem, searching for solutions is better than the alternative.
Looking forward to hearing more from you Dan...
