: As to book snobs, I have no patience for them - snobbery is nothing more than insecurity wrapped up in a weird sort of unseemly, mealy-mouthed bullying. Gak.
- Hey Rae,
I think snobbery is a product of standards. Something the world is fast dropping due to the increasing inability to meet them.
Not to be confused with "people" snobs who think that "they" are better. That has its roots in insecurity for sure.
I absolutely don't consider myself a snob...I can work with my CEO and then spend lunch with a homeless person...But to argue that a Valient Charger is as good as a porche because they both take you to the shops is a simple and flawed arguement. (I don't know the American equivalent - an oldsmobile or Crown Vic is as good as a dodge viper because they both take you to the ball game.) Do i need to explain the complete difference between a Valient and a porche? Am i a car snob because i recognoise one is vastly superior in every way to the other?
Looking forward to an intelligent counter-arguement.
